Game Day Procedures

Pre-Game Requirements:

  • Submit referee fees, cedulas (rosters), and league credentials before kickoff.

  • Home team arrives first; visiting team sets up on the opposite side.

New Teams:

  • May use permission slips for the first two games only.

  • Players must present valid ID with permission slips; IDs will be returned post-game.

  • Teams must be fully registered by their third game.

Match Start Time:

  • 5-minute grace period allowed.

    • If a team arrives after 6 minutes and the referee is notified, the present team is awarded a 5–0 win.

    • The game will still be played.

Refusing to Play:

  • Results in a 5–0 loss, a deduction of 2 points, and payment of double referee fees.

No-Shows / Same-Day Cancellations:

  • Results in a 5–0 loss, payment of full referee fee plus half of the opponent's referee fee.

  • In playoffs: 1–0 loss and disqualification from the second round.

Spond Cancellation Penalty:

  • Canceling after being posted on Spond results in a 2–0 loss and payment of half the referee fee.

Pet Policy: Only service dogs are allowed on the fields. All other animals are not permitted.

Match Rules

Game Duration

  • 7v7 (Youth & Adult): 2 halves of 20 minutes

  • 11v11 (Youth): 2 halves of 28 minutes

  • 11v11 (Adult): 2 halves of 35 minutes

 

Weekday games start at 6:00 PM | Weekend games start at 4:00 PM

⏱ Match Start Policy

  • 5-minute grace period allowed

  • If a team arrives after 6 minutes:

    • Referee must be notified

    • A report must be submitted

    • League board may award a 5–0 forfeit

  • The game must still be played while the outcome is under review

Gameplay Rules

  • Unlimited substitutions allowed during stoppages with referee approval

  • Throw-ins must be done using both hands

  • Goalkeepers cannot handle intentional passes from teammates

Scoring System

  • Win: 3 points

  • Draw: 1 point

  • Loss: 0 points

 

Playoffs follow a single-elimination format (regular season standings do not carry over)

Minimum Player Requirements

  • 7v7: Minimum of 4 players to start

  • 11v11: Minimum of 7 players to start

Final Match Policy

  • No player permits allowed in finals

  • If a match is suspended due to a fight or serious incident:

    • No immediate winner may be declared

    • Outcome will remain under board review

    • Suspensions or fines may apply based on the incident

Uniforms & Equipment

Uniform Requirements:

  • All players must wear matching jerseys and shorts, including stripes.

  • Each team must have one set of uniforms and one set of bibs with non-repeating numbers, including goalie.

  • Sweaters or pants under uniforms are permitted.

Equipment:

  • Each team must bring a game ball.

  • Teams responsible for setting up or collecting goals (first or last games of the day) will be fined $25 if not completed.

Reports, Fines & Disciplinary Actions

Formal Reports:

  • Violations related to uniforms, age, roster, ID, or unregistered players incur a $10 fee ($20 during playoffs).

  • Reports concerning sock color, number color, or logos are not considered valid.

Tardy Reports:

  • Must be submitted by Tuesday with proof.

  • Valid reports result in a 2–0 win (regular season) or 1–0 win (playoffs).

Fines:

  • Trash left behind: $25 fine.

  • Failure to return or set up goals: $25 fine.

  • Missing a league meeting: Deduction of 2 points.

  • Refusing to play: 5–0 loss, deduction of 2 points, and payment of double referee fees.

  • Use of unregistered or suspended players (Cachirul):

    • 1st offense: $25 fine and suspension.

    • 2nd offense: $50 fine and suspension.

    • 3rd offense: $100 fine and one-year suspension.

Note: All fines and fees are non-refundable.

Yellow Cards & Conduct

Yellow Card Penalty:

  • Player must sit out for 3 minutes; substitutions are allowed.

  • In 7v7, if the goalkeeper receives a yellow card, a field player must substitute off instead.

Code of Conduct:

  • No players or fans are allowed behind the goals.

  • Only coaches may communicate with the referee, and must do so respectfully.

  • Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their players and fans.

  • No insults, food, gum, or drinks (other than water) are allowed on synthetic/turf fields.

  • Photos or videos may be used to support disciplinary decisions.

Players must sub out for yellow cards except:

  • Goalkeepers

  • 7v7 with only 4 players

  • 11v11 with only 7 players

Registration & Player Movement

Youth Players:

  • Permit: $5 with ID, $10 without ID.

  • Registration: $35.

  • Must provide two photos and one of the following: birth certificate, California ID with date of birth, or passport.

Adult Players:

  • Permit: $5.

  • Registration: $20–$25.

  • Must provide two photos.

Minors Under 16:

  • Must submit parent or guardian documentation as per youth requirements.

  • If reported, original documents must be presented.

Transfers:

  • Players may switch teams once per season with coach approval.

  • Without coach approval, a two-week waiting period is required.

  • Players cannot play on two teams in the same division.

  • Players may participate in a higher division within the same club.

Finals & Playoffs

Finals:

  • Cedulas are not required.

  • Only players listed on the official league registration list may participate.

  • Coaches may review all player credentials before the final match.

Playoff Enforcement:

  • Violations discovered in the second leg may lead to disqualification, subject to official review.

  • The final day to register new players is two weeks before playoffs.

8-Team Bracket

  • Quarterfinals: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5

  • Semifinals: W1/8 vs W4/5, W2/7 vs W3/6

  • Finals: Semifinal winners

7-Team Bracket

  • Top seed gets a bye

  • Quarterfinals: 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5

  • Semifinals: 1 vs W4/5, W2/7 vs W3/6

  • Finals: Semifinal winners

6-Team Bracket

  • Top 2 seeds get byes

  • Quarterfinals: 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5

  • Semifinals: 1 vs W4/5, 2 vs W3/6

  • Finals: Semifinal winners

5-Team Bracket

  • Top 3 seeds get byes

  • Wildcard: 4 vs 5

  • Semifinals: 1 vs W4/5, 2 vs 3

  • Finals: Semifinal winners

4-Team Bracket

  • Semifinals: 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3

  • Finals: Semifinal winners

Consolation Bracket (Teams 9–16)

  • Quarterfinals: 9 vs 16, 10 vs 15, 11 vs 14, 12 vs 13

  • Semifinals: W9/16 vs W12/13, W10/15 vs W11/14

Points System

  • Win: 3 pts | Draw: 1 pt | Loss: 0 pts

Tie-Breaker

  • Goal Difference = Goals For – Goals Against

  • Higher GD advances

Youth Division & Girls Exceptions

Age Groups & Exceptions:

  • All-Girls Teams: Players may be up to two years older than the division.

  • Girls in Co-Ed Teams: May be one year older (up to 15 years old).

  • Girls over 15 must play in the adult division.

League Meetings

  • General meetings are held on the last Tuesday of every month at 8:00 PM.

  • Failure to attend results in a deduction of 2 points from team standings.

  • Tuesdays (for report appeals): 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

  • Monthly Meeting: Last Tuesday at 8:00 PM.

Age Eligibility – 2025–2026 Season

To maintain a fair, fun, and safe playing environment, all players must register in the correct division based on their birth year. Below is the official breakdown for the 2025–2026 season.

Players are placed based on their birth year. The “G” notation refers to the year girls may be eligible to play down under specific conditions.

 

Special Participation Guidelines

  • All-Girls Teams may play one division down (up to 2 years older than the division’s age limit).

  • Co-Ed Teams (Mixed Gender): Girls may be 1 year older than the division’s age cut-off.

  • Same Club Exceptions: Any player may play one division up as long as they stay within the same club team.

  • Adult League Eligibility:

    • Players must be born in 2007 or earlier to participate in Open Men’s or Open Women’s adult divisions.

    • Girls ages 16 and up may play with adult teams, depending on availability.

 

These age guidelines ensure that players are placed appropriately for safety and competitive balance, while allowing some flexibility within reasonable limits. All exceptions are reviewed by league staff and must align with JAM Sports League policies.
